THE DUNEDIN SHOW.

j (by telegraph.) j (rROM OCR SPECIAL REPORTER ) j Du.nedi.v, Novcmbsr 28. | The aheep, taken as a whole, the Ayrshire and Shorthorn ciitle, and the piga were the most important features of today's show. There are n'.eo some very large cattle shown in the fat cattle classes. One beast, shown by Messrs M'Donald and Co., showing Hereford breeding, is a moneter —larger than any ever Bhown in Dunedin previonslv. The judsina of tho shojp, cattle, and pigs was ail finished tjday, and I will send yon a Burumary of tho awards : The prizes in merinoa (fine combing), both clothed Bnd unclothed, with trifling • xceptions, wero arcurcd 1 y Mr Watson Shannon, who had co one to compete agiinat. In strong combing Mr Barton takes firat and champion for 4-tooth ram, first and second for pair 2 tooth rams, and fin! and second for pair 2 tooth ewes. He !3 beaten by Mr Shannon's only entry in th"3 class—in the 4-toolh ewo section, Mr Shannon's ewe b-ing awarded champion also; and Mr Borton takes secot.d and third in Leiceaters unclothed. Mr M'Croatie is tho largest prizataker, with three firsts, champion for ram, one second, { and two thirds. Mr Holmes comes next with onn firat, three seconds, and one third. Little Bror. take first prlza for 2-tooth ewe, and first and champion for 4-tooth ewo with lamb or iambs at foot, Mr Murdoch's sheep in this class being awarded a second for 4-tooth ram and ccmmtnded in nno or two otlier c'as3C3. In the clothed class Little Bros, show against John Reid with tho result that they eccnre both champions, five first 3, two seonds, and one third ; Mr Reid takins two first and four second tickets. In Lincoln® (unclothed) the Hon. M. Holme 3 secures four firsts, three seconds, one third, and tho ram championship, the Company, the only other pr:z:t=-.ker of any consequence, securing two firsts, two seconds, five thirds, and tho ewe championship. Both Mr Mon-

love and Mr Morris exhibited "in thsae clieses unsuccoß!fally. In Romney Marah, Mr Reid is tho largest pr:Z2taker, securing the champion for swe, four firatu, ono second and one third. Mr James Fulton Is next with threo seconds and two thirds, while tha Hon. M. Holmes secures the champion for the ram, ono firat, and one second. The Hon. M. Holmes shows two pen 3 of Cheviot sheep, for which he Is awarded highly commanded tickets. For fat aheep, of which there i 3 a good show, tho Canterbury exhibitors secure the pr:zs3 with trifling exceptions. The ehow of shorthorn cattle is quite S3 good Z3 on former occasions, th» three largest breeders, Messrs Mealo?e, J. Reld, and J. Deans, each compeiirg in nearly every class, bnt the former allowed himself to be outnumbered by tho other two. Mr Reid secured 15 points, Mr Deaoo 14, and Mr Mfnlova 11. The iatter'a famous bull Oxford's Roan Duke secured the championship, and Mr Deans' Dachess of Brunswick was pronounced to be the champion cow. Tho Land Company are somewhat closer run in Polled Angus catt'o by Mr A. R. Wallis, who has beaten them in the yearling bull and three-year-old heifer sections. He also sneered the champion ticketfor hlsPrincesa Hopr. tha Company's Solomon 11. being champion bull. The entries in Ayrshire cattle aro very nnmerotu in all eectlons, but tha competition i 3 spoilt through Mr Gemmoli'a declining to eond his cattle into tha riog after the eereath class—three-year-old heifer, dry—had besn decided (ilka the three previous onos) against him. Ha did this because he was not aaciffied with tha decisions of tho judges. His famous Dsl', Baron Oxbiil, was placed firat in tha three-year-old and upwards claa?, and doubtless would have eecured the champion ticket bad he been ssnt out along with Mr Fsrgusson'a Ayrshire King, who secured it, notwithstanding that be was placed second when judged in his class. Messrs A. ard J. Macfarlane's Queen of the West takes tha champion ticket for the beat cow. Summed up the j total Doint3 secured are B3 follow : —Messrs !A. and J. Macfirlane, 25; Mr Cowan, ' 19 ; Mr Forgusaon, 14 ; and Mr Gemmeli, C. Messrs A. and J. Macfarlano took first and Mr F<?rgusson second for beat three cowa ; Mr Fergu3son took first and Mr Cowan second for cow with two of her proaeny. For the beat pair of dairy cowa in foil milk Mr Fergusson waa first and Mr Cowan Becond ; and for be3t pair of heifer* in milk, Messrs Mecfariana ware first and Mr Farguason second, Mrs Girforth (Chriatchurch), who makes 13 entries out of 25 la fat cattle, secures nearly all the prizes.

At the sales ol stock held this afternoon, a 4-tooth Lincoln ram wa3 sold by Messrs Reid, Maclean and Cj., on account of the Hon. M. Holmes, for 24 guineas, to Mr John Raid. They also sold, on account of Messrß Little Bros, one 2 tooth Lincoln ram at 13 guineas, ono at 5 goineas, and one at 4 guineas. Little 8r03.' famou3 ram Lachiel was pissed at 25 guineas, and afterwards 30 guineas were offered for him. These are all the transactions, so far as I kuow.
