THE OTAGO CENTRAL.

(PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, August 22. A meeting of tbo3e who supported lha Qiago Central Railway Bill last week was convened by Mr Pyke for four o'clock this afternoon, and at that hour fourteen members put in an appearance, and two others bound themselves to agree to anything that the meeting did. Mr Pyke was voted to the ohair, arid, after some discnsslon, the following resonltions were passed:— 1. "That the Government bo requested to proceed with the Otago Central Railway Bill this session, with such amendments aa may be deemed advisable." 2. "That as the Otago Central Railway Bill was, in the opinion of this meeting, a deolded step in the direction of dosing the Public Works Policy, that Bill should not be abandoned." 3. "That, failing procedure with the Bill, the Government should, In any other way, proceed with the line." It is understood that the Government are not inolined to take the resolutions of the meeting aB a direction, and are not likely to take any further steps this session in the matter of the Otago Central line, thinking that the decision of the House on Friday night should be held to be final so far as this session is concerned.
