One of the saloon passengers of the ill-fated Btoamer Centennial lost LBO In gold, whioh was in the oabin, and whloh be was unable to Beoure owing to tho rapid sinking of the veßßel. Another passenger lost all his savings. In addition to the names of the passengers already telegraphed, the Centennial had 31 ateerago. Received August 26, at 1.30 a.m. Sydney, August 25. Further Inquiries made Into the sinking of the Centennial show that Sargeant, tho chief cook, and Riddle, a fireman, aro missing. The two men wore in their bunks at the time of tho mishap, and ui their apartments were situated near tho spot where the vessel was out through, It is believed they wero crushed to doath. One of the steerage passengers is reported to be lost, but the information lacks confirmation. Some of the passengers by tho ilifated steamer are rendered qulto destitute, and ono passenger asserts that 250 sovereigns whioh he had hoarded up, went down in the vessel. Received August 26, at 1 p.m. Sydney, Angußt 26. The Centennial was insured for L 6,500 in the Pacifio Company's OQloe, nod tho oargo was mostly insured.
