Fome time since we published a paragraph on the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed in tbe colony. This reached Messrs Kirkpatrink and Co., oi Nelson, and they went to work in a very practical fashion to prove that the jjtns manufactured by the firm were of the best quality. Two cases of assorted jatns were sent to thi3 office, with a request that we wou'd thoroughly test the jam along with other brands, and give our opinion. We are happy to state, frankly and fully that wehave been been much surprised, a3 prior to the receipt of Messrs Kirkpatrlck's gift wa were nnawsre that New Zealand cnuld boast of an industry of which it has so w jtt leaeoa to be proud. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to "a genuine local industry, the product of which we can unreservedly recommend to consumers. All of the many persons who have tested tne samples are loud in their praise, and we mast unreservedly congratulate Messrs KirkI patrick and Co, upon turning out a genuine fruit jam fit to grace the t>b;es and please cbe palates of tha most Insurious and fastidious.—Hawke's Bay Herald, July 18. Samples of Klrkpatrick and Co.'s "K" brand of jam havj been forwaded to us, and we are free to confess that they appear to be in every way excellent, and as tboy become better known in the looal market will meet with much appreciation from the heads of households. The m»ker assarts that none bnt the purest fruits grown in Nelson are used in his mannfaotures, and we are content to accept the assurance.
