(by telegraph.) Auckland, September 6. Deteotive Walker has returned per the llanapoori. He has no doubt that Gaspariai is drowned. The prisoner was seen to get up at 2 o'alock on the morning on which the steamer entered Sydney harbor, by Joshua Palmer, a cattle dealer, of Tokomairiro, Otago, who Blept next him, and was never seen after. He could not have reached the shore on account of the rough weather, and the French deteotive in Sydney assured Walker that he should have known within four hours if the prisoner had landed there. The prisoner got into very low spirits when nearing Sydney.
