The Anatralaaia Society for the Advancement of Science has appointed a committee of lta members to consider the proposed expedition to explore the Antarctic regions and sdsmological phenomena in Anatralaaia. In the Appeal Court, Holt, ex-manager of the Bank of New Zealand here, has appealed againat the decision of the Lower Hooae handing over his interest in the Boae Hill estate to the bank. Tbe appeal waa dismissed. Brisbane, September 4. Io July last a difficulty arose between his Excellency the Governor and his' adviaera in consequence of the former de-! dining to release a prisoner upon the | advice tendered by the Ministers. The Premier thereupon asked his Excellency to the Ministers. Since then negotiations have been going on, but his Excellency has steadfastly declined to need* from the position he had previously taken up.
