FIRE AT INVERCARGILL.
(BY TELEGRAPH.) INTF.RCAF.On.I,, August 29. Alexander Dtrliog's feilraongery, near town, was burned down last night at abatr, 5 o'clock. Tho chimney of Dir-reaidt-nc -. close to tho works, ciugbt 6re, bat tho tlimes wero extinguished, i»r.d everything mads apparently aafe. A spark from tho chimney, however, moat h»ve lodged ia tho roof of the shed neircst tho house, for, at «b.■ot htif-post six, a fire broke out at that particaUr spot. The firo spread rapidly, and tho eight sheds, of which the works were composed, were soon destroyed. The reaiJeoce and stable wero saved, and a faw bates of wool wero got oat of the burning baildiogs. Most of the bones, of which thero wore aboat LSOO wcrtbio stock, wero leftuntoucbed, batthe valuable machinery with which tho works wero fitted, including a now bone mill, an engine, a large boiler, and two tallow digesters, were more or less injured, ; Darling estimates that the stock and Imvterijd on band was worth at least LIOOO. Tho property was insured for about LI2OO in the 2»ew Zealand office.
