EDISON'S MYSTERY.
A representative of the "Electrical Be* view" casually met Sir Ediaon, and he happened to bo in bis more than usually jolly mood—and, by the way, be is apparently in the ruddiest health and beat of spirits. To the inquiry if he had anything new, Mr Ediaon replied: " Yes, I have made a fresh dhcovery of no little Importance —a great advance in electric arttested ita practibility and realised success; bat I will not name it now. Heretofore when I have invented or discovered something and published its details, the scientific papers have loon after teemed with announcements of anticipations, prior experiments, hints about piracy and stolen thunder, etc. According to these 1 have never produced a prototype, n/ithtng bat poor, miserable, little antitypes. Sow this time lam going to have some fun with the boys. My new discovery is fully recorded, but I will not publish it for six months 1 You may give formal notice, so that the bibliophiles and prior inventors may have the Erst chance, with lots cf time to get the laugh oo me. As the oil men say, I'm down on the *oO sand,' but propose to plug tbe well and bold it a*mystery' fcr six months. If, meantime, no claimant appears with a fall description of the ' mystery,' M draw the plug, and J thick I'll be entitled to nail my sign on that property."
