(by ibleghaph). Napieb, J una 9. In the case of bigamy the prisoner Smith, aliaß Russell, pleaded guilty. No evidence Was- taken. The Rev A. B. Todd, before the sentence was passed, was called upon by the Chief Justice to state what he knew of tho character of the wife after her marriage with Smith. The prisoner, in defence, said that his wife led him a miserable life.
