The Greymouth Harbor Board loan of LIOO,OOO and the Westport harbor loan of L 150,000, both 4 per cent., were placed on the market to-day. In the House of Commons to-day, the memorial presented by the recent Maori embassy was brought up for consideration. During the discussion which took place, the Hon. A. Eveline Ashley, Parliamenary Under-Secretary for the Colonies, stated in the course of his speech, that the memorial would receive due consideration, but that the Imperial Government were not entitled to interfere in the internal affairs of a colony to which selfgovernment had been granted. London, June 7. Major-General Sir Peter Lumsden arrived here to-day from India, and met with an enthusiastic reception, being warmly cheered by a large crowd which assembled to welcome him.
