IMPORTANT SALES OF PROPERTY.
Messrs. Fleming and Jledlev report that they held a very large clearing sale of land, cattle, dairy cows, sheep, horses, and implements, at M'Kay's Yards, on Wednesday and Thursday last. There was an unusually large attendance, and with the exception of the land (which was withdrawn at auction) Iht: biddings were very spirited. The cattle were a very nice lot all r.-iund—some fat, some nearly fat, and a few yearling;. The fat cattle sold at from L 7 10s 10 Lb 2s 6d ; young steers, 1 to 2 voars, from L 3 7s 6d to Li 15s ; good stores, in high condition, from L 5 to
L 7. There was keen competition. There Tiere about 20 0:1;ry co'.vs yarded, for Vtliich the demand was guou, oiiu outside buyer taking nearly the The cows were not up to the Oamaru standard. Prices ranged from Lsto L 9 10s. Four of Mr. Allan's, White Rocks, were next submitted, and met with very keen bidding. Prices ranged from X/ 10 to Lll IDs. On Thursday the attendance was even larger than on the first day, wh,en 50 draught horses were submitted to the hammer. The stock was very well brought out, showed to good advantage, and sold well. For all good lots the bidding was animated, and the market for this class of stock has at last risen froni its depressed State, Nobody could liaye credited the revival unless he bad been present at this sale. Good draughts brought from L 45 to L6O ; medium, from I/gO to L3p ; and inferior, from Lls to L2o. The implements sold very well, and lots cleared at satisfactory prices. At the stores, Tyne-sfcreet, they held a sale of 18 town sections on account of C. D. R. Ward, Esq., at which there was a very large attendance, and the bidding brisk. All* the freehold sections sold at about $n ayerage of LIOO each. This may be satisfactory, and ah index of the rise of property jn the town.
