DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING.
A second squad of No. 1 Company, with Major Sumpter and Captain M'Corkindale, of the Citizen Cadets, competed for the district prizes yesterday afternoon. There was a strong gusty wind blowing, and this greatly militated against good shooting at the 600 yards range. Despite this Major Sumpter made the very excellent score of 52, and thus so far headed the list for the district. Captain Headland made a brilliant commencement, scoring a centre and nine consecutive bull's-eyes at the two first ranges, but, like other good shots in the morning, broke down at the third range, where lie made three misses. The following are the scores of the twelve who fired in the afternoon
