By seuding the Wakatipu here the Union Company would give the lie direct to our calumniators, if there are, even now, persons who are either so bitter, or so ignorant, as to come under this unenviable designation. The manager of the Company is a keep and able man of business, who would not in the least degree risk his premier vessel and his reputation. He knows as well as anybody what are tlic capabilities of our harbor, and it appears that he intends to take advantage of them in the interests of his Company. The man who generously acknowledges the excellences of our harbor and endeavors to make them subserve his purposes, not only exercises manly attributes, but he will participate in the advantages that have been prepared for him. We may expect that at least a thousand Dunedin friends will find their way here in the W akatipu, a vessel upon winch even the sensation of sea-sick-ness is unknown in ordinary weather. We may therefore anticipate an attendance ftt the Caledonian Society s annual game 3 such as crowded the grounds four years ago, when the Rotortia paid us a visit.
