LORD CLYDE was bred by D. M'JV lane, Esq., Torr, Helensburgh, by Emporor' out of Jess, by Clydesdale Tain, out 0 f Tibbie; Emperor by Sir Walter Scott. Lord Clyde took the following prizes ag . yearling First at Bishopriggs, Ivirkiu tullook, East Kilbride, and Johnattml (1566); as a 2-year-old—First at Barhead Johnstone, Renfrew, and second at Glasgow Highland Society (1567); as a 3-year-okU First at the Highland Society Show, hold v t Aberdeen, IS6B. He was afterwards bought by the late David Nesbitt, and takoa ■ Victoria, where his stock have taken priz ea as follows : —First and second prize colta and first and second prize lillies at Sand, hurst, first and second prize colts aud ii ra (; and third prize fillies at Kyneton, and prize colt and filly at the Grand National Melbourne, and the colt was sold 011 tho ground for 100 guineas. Dainty Davie's sire—Moffat's Conqueror (imported from Scotland)—had also a dis. tinguished career, both at Homo aud in tho Colouies. When two years old he gained prizes at Glasgow, Stirling, Kirkiutulloch and Dumbarton ; when three years old from among 60 horses he was selected for a £4O premium. The following year he was purchased by Mr. Moffat, Victoria, and retaiued at his stud till purchased by Turner, of JBacchus Marsh—the most noted breeder in Victoria. Conqueror's siro was Lochfergus Champion. It " can bo safely asserted that Lochfergus Champion loft more prize stallions and mares than any other Clydesdale horte in Scotland.
