YOUNG MUIR LAD is a bright bay, stands 16& hands high; has immense bone and muscular power, an excellent temper, and superior action; is by the celebrated horse Muir Lad, imported from Scotland by David Nesbitt, Esq., and is the champion horse of the Australian Colonies, having been awarded that position at the Sydney Exhibition. Young Muir Lad has proved himself a sure stock-getter, aud his stock is acknowledged to be equal to anything in the district. Terms, £5, payable to groom at the end of the season. Jean's dam, Kate, as a 2-year-old secured second at Taieri and first at Dunedin ; as a 3 -year-old was first at Taieri and first at Duuedin, while the following year she not only took first as the best brood, mare, but was award''d the Champion Cup, presented- by Messrs. PRINCE ROYAL, as a yearling, took second prize at Timaru, first at Christchurch, and first at Oamaru. When 2 years, was second at Timaru, and first at Oamaru; when 3 years was second at Oaoiavu. PEDIGREE. Scotland Yet is rising four years old, ann stands 16£ hands high. He is a rich dark bay, with capital short hairy legs, and four black points.- He possesses good sound feet—a very important requisite in a sire for producing draught stock. He is short in the back, well ribbed-up, with good quarters and splendid action. He has proved a sure foal-gettar, and is a splendid worker. Bred by Mr. James Burgesa, Southland. Sire, Young Prince of Wales, by Drew's Prince of Wales, by General, by Sir Walter Scott, by Old Clyde, by Scotland/ by Champion, which takes ua fully fifty years back amongst the grand old sires of Clydesdale blood in Scotland. Scotland Yet's dam was brad by Mr. A. Steele, which wai got by the well-known Thane of Clyde, imported by. Hugh M'Lean, Esq., of Benmore. Thane of Clyde, bred by Thomas Young, E-'q., Renfrewshire, Scotland. He took several first prizes in Scotland when two and three years old. His dam was • the celebrated mare Matchless, never beatea in her day. He also gained tbe first prize, against all comers, at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Show in 1567, being there for the first time shown in New Zealand. Tho following year he gained the Gold Medr.l at the Tokomairiro Agricultural and Pastoral Grand Show, and was reckoned by compotent judges to be the best bred horse in Otago ; also, the Gold Medal at the Clutha, Scotland Yet gained second prize at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Socety's in 1877 ; aad in 1878 he gained .the same Society's first prize, beating a field of seven, and he was admitted by the judges oh that occasion to be the best colt bred from the Prince of Wales.
