Mr. Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercanti'e Agency Company, Limited v reports as follows for the •week ending 27th October : Fat Cattle. —For to-day s market at Bnrnside 129 were yarded, of which 87 were fat, the remainder being stores. The supply being small, biddings showed an improvement on last week's rates, although the influence of late heavy purchases was stul ■perceptible. "Bullocks realised from LG .)3 to Ll2 2s (kI. and cows LS 10s to LlO per head. We ottered a good drart of cows from the well-known Seadown herd, ami sold 29 head at quotations. For the stores, which ■were an ordinary mixed lot. L2 to L 4 per head wa3 realistd. Quotation for beat beef, 25s per lOOtb. Fat Calves.—Four were sold at from 03 6d to 10« per head. Fat Sheep.—Consequent on a much diminished supply—which consisted of 13G3 cross-breds and 221 merinos, in all 15S4—an advance was established of fully Is per head. The cross-brcd3 sold at from Ss to 9s 6d for shorn ; a few in the wool brought 14s 3d. A few head of Leicester*, in the wool, brought 20s 3d. Merinos, shorn, sold at from 63 9d to 7a, and woolly, 10s 6d. On account of Mr. J. Buckland wc disposed of a small draft of merinos (in the wool) at 10s 6d : and on account of Mr. W . of a draft of crosa-breds (in the wool) at 14s 3d. We quote mutton l£d to IJd per lb for Lambs.—3lo were penned, and sold at 5s 9d to Sa 9d. We sold on account of Messrs J. C. Buckland and Vi ni. Shand 144 head, at Ss 3d to 8a 9d. . Store Cattle.—We are expecting to offer a draft of store cattle for sale at the Mosgiol Yards in about a fortnight. . Sheepskins.—We have held no sale during the past week. -it Hides We have placed one or two lots during the week at. highest current rates. Demand continues active. v\e quote 3jfd per lb for wet salted, and 20s each for catchers' green bides. Tallow.—Market still quiet, quotations showing no sign of improvement upon those of last week. , , ni Grain.—Wheat: Good samples are still in demand, but owing to the bareness of the market aales are limited. We quote for prime milling 4s 6d to 4a 7d ; medium, 4s to 4s 3d; inferior, 3s 3d to 33 9d. Oats : There is very little change in prices or demand to report. A fair inquiry for shipment atjll exists, bat quotations do not encourage buyers to operate. We quote prime milling Is Tdto IsSd; good feed, Is 4d to Is 6d. Barley :We have no sales to report. Good malting is very scarce, prices ranging as follows : —Prime malting, 3s 6d ; inferior to medium, 2s to 3s 3d.
