HARBOR BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the Harbor Board took place to-day, when there were present —Messrs. Sumpter (Chairman), Gilchrist, Aitken, Borrie, Shrimski, and Duncan. . The. minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, and the inward and outward correspondence was read and approved. Mr. Maude's arbitration award in re Dunkeld was received and read. It was resolved to purchase the 2£in. cable required for harbor purposes from •Edmund, Forsyth, and M'Neil, as per tender. It Was also resolved that the sheds and cement at the works be insured. Some correspondence was rgad which had taken place between the Chairman and the Harboimaster'with reference to the barque Lurline, the Chairman stating in his letter that he thought it would be the wish of the Board that the Harbormaster should take the vessel in behind the breakwater, and put in as much cargo as he thought prudent. If the vessel arrived before the njeetlpg. of the Board, he would take the responsibility, on behalf of the Board, authorising' him to do sQ.-rrrrOn the motion of "Sir. it was reso.lved tHat"the action fey the Chairman be confirmed, some discussion, it was decided to postpone laying pipes far water supply to to the Breakwater, on account of the oost. In reference to the revision of the tariff, the Committee asked for another fortnight to complete their report, which was agreed to. The Board then rose.
