Jean's dam, Ka,te, as a 2-year-old secured secatid at Taieri and first at Dunedin 5 as a 3-year-old was first at Taiari asd first at Dunedin, while the following year she not only took first as the best brood, mare, but was awarded the Champion Cup, presented by Messrs. PRINCE ROYAL, as a yearling, took , seoond prize at Timaru, first at Christchurch, and first at Oamaru. When 2 years, was second at Timaru, and first at Oamaru; when 3 years was second at Oamaru. THE PURE-BEE D CLYDESDALE STALLION QCOTLANJ* YET Will travel sus season through Maerewhenua, Ngapara, Duntroon, Kakanui, and the Waitaki Districts. PEDIGREE. " ' Scotland Yet is rising four years old, and standa 16J hands high. He is a rich dark bay, with capital short hairy legs, and four black points. He possesses good sound feet—a very important requisite in a sire for producing draught stuck. He is short in the back, well ribhed-up, with good quarters and splendid action. He has proved a sure foal-getter, and is a splendid worker. Bred by Mr. James Burgess, Southland, Sire, Young Prince of Wales, by Drew's Prince of Wales, by Genera!, by Sir Walter Scott, by Old Clyde, by Scotland, by Champion, which takes us fully fifty years back amongst the grand old sires of Clydesdale blood in Scotland. Scotland Yet's dam was bred by Mr. A. Steele, which was got by the well-known Thane of Clyde, imported by Hugh M'Lean, Esq., of Benmore, Thane of Clyde, bred by Thomas Young, Ejsq., -Renfrewshire, Scotland. He took several first prizes in Scotland when two and three years old. His dam was the oelebrated mare Matchless, never beaten in her day. He also gained the first prize, against all comers, at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Show in 1867, being there for the first time shown in New Zealand. The following year he gained the Gold Medal at the Tokomairiro Agricultural and Pastoral Society' 3 Grand Show, i and was reckoned by competent judges'to be the best bred horse in Otago; also, the at the Clutha. Scotland Yet gained second prize at the Southland Agricultural, and Pastoral Society's Show in 1877; and in 1878 he gained the same Society's first prize, beating a field -of seven, and he was admitted by the, judges on that occasion to be the beat colt bred from the Prince of Wales,
