ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
TO THK EDITOR OF THE OAMARU MAIL. Sir, —Will you, or any of the readers of your valuable paper, inform me whether the new bye-laws of the Municipal Council can be put in force before getting the sanction of the Governor, and, if so, what steps will it be necessary to take to atop' them from becoming law. Now is the< time to object. If the people allow thenii to pass, they will not be long before they their eyes opened to the fact that thn< oye-laws as printed are at least ten yearst in advance of the time. They are onlysuitable for a town of 50,000 or 100,000' inhabitants, and quite unsuitable for a. population of 5000 or 6000. Instead of the powers that be offering every facitity to people to build, they are throwing every obstacle in the way. Hoping that somoomo who is better able to use the pen will take the matter in hand, I atn, &c., Citizen. [The bye-laws can come into force without the Governor's assent.—Ed. 0. M.J
