Mr. Lausell. a rich reefer of Sandhurst, has given LIOOO to the Bendigo IJospital, and LIOOO to the Hospital for Incurables. The Rev. October, and Commodore Wilson has promised that all British inen-of-war on the' station shall rendezvous in Hobson Bay, The Governor visited the Exhibition, and was received by the President and Commissioners. He inspected the whole of the building and arrangements, witht which be expressed much satisfaction.. Everything is now getting- into a forward! state. ' Brisbane, August 28. Many persons are leaving Brisbane for the new tin mines near A large number of selections have been taken during the last few days, and water is abundant. Large quantities of tin continue to arrive at Cooktown—26 tons were shipped by the Llewellyn, and 40 tons by the Alexandra. A proclamation has been issued offering a bonus of LSOOO for the production of 500 tons of marketable iron from Queensland ores.

In the Assembly the Treasurer said I that a million and a half of loan money was on deposit in London at 2£ per cent.;: also, the Treasurer said, in reply to a. question, that the brokerage paid on last, loan was £*per cent. The Rev. Mr. Bach has committed! suicide -with prussic acid.
It is the intention of the Chief Secret tary to address a despatch to the Government of Canada, asking if any ments can be made to admit our vinos; into that country at lower rates of dmfcy than those at present in force, whicb ara almost prohibitory.
