MORE ARRESTS OF MAORIS.
(by telegraph.) New Plymouth, July 20. Further particulars re the arrest of the natives state that about 3 o'clock day afternoon the natives who were fencing; were ordered to stop operations by CoU Roberts, and on their refusing to do. so, hei ordered them to be arrested. Te WhetU'„ the leader, was the first singled; out arid seized. He resisted violently, and it was with much difficulty ho was secured, but, after a good deal of struggling, the hand- , cuffs were fastened on him. This native is supposed to be the murderer of Bray„ a Europeanj some 13 years since. ,!Jhe> other natives, on seeing their ciuef a* ..." prisoner, quietly surrendered themselves* and all were duly handcuffed. It is saiidli that one of Te Whiti's sons is amongst the prisoners. When the news was carried to Parihaka great excitement prevailed, amongst the natives assembled at tho. meeting there, and they declared theirdetermination to prosecute the wovi; oft 1
fencing until all were taken prisoners. A. number of natives near town started foip Parihaka this morning.
