CANTERBURY INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

(BY TK LEG R A J/11.) Christchurch, July 15, The Industrial Exhibition was opened by the Mayor at noon to-day. There was a large attendance. Mr. R. Allan, Chairman of the Committee of Management,' delivered an inaugural address, sketching the progress made in manufactures, art, and science in New Zealand. The display of exhibits is very imposing and includes many valuable articles. Machinery comprises a weaver's loom, tile press, boot sole sewing machine, potter's wheel, allacwcrk. Jj/iil making, lesb grinding', and other interesting processes, are also being s!i«\vn. There are altogether nearly 200 exhibits. The Exhibition will bo open till Saturday, and probably again next week, :
