It is generally considered that the present Parliament will be brought to a close within a fortnight. - David John Newton, solicitor, now undergoing two years' for forgery, was brought up yesterday on a chargeof forging Judge Windeyer's signature in an action for divorce. He was further committed for trial. Three children were burned to death to day at Nicholas Punch's Hotel at Woolloomooloo.
The Attorney-General, in answer to Mr. Buchanan, stated that Judge Meymott, against whotT) some curious allegations were made recently, had not been suspended pending an investigation of his conduefc, but had been : told that it was desirable he should take leave of absence pending a decision being arrived at.! Judge Meymott;"had' accordingly applied for leave of absence, and' woiild perform no judicial; functions. ........
