THIS DAY. (Before T. W. Parker, Esq., R.M.) D R CTNK E.V>* ESS. John Quigley was charged with having been drnnk and disorderly in Tyne-atreec on Saturday night, and was fined 7s, with the alternative of 24 hoars'imprisonment. John Eiddell, charged with having been drunk and disorderly Thamesstreet, at an early hour on Sunday morning, had been admitted to bail, and not appearing to answer the charge, the amount of his bail was ordered to be estreated. VAORJLJfCY. William Baker waa charged with having no lawful visible means <rf support, and with wandering about the street, and having no house or home. The accused denied the charge. Constable M'Gaughran deposed that he arrested the acc tsed on Sunday night on the gaol premises. Accused said he wanted to get locked up as he had no money and nowhere to go. Witness told him to go away, and prisoner said if he went away he would do something to himself, as he had no place to go to. Witness asked him if he had been drinking and accused said ho had—that he had had a drink before he came to the gaol yard. He said his health was very bad, and witness then locked him up. Witness searched accused, and did not find any money upon him. Constable King stated that about a quarter-past 11 o'clock last night his attention was called to the accused, who was on the gaol premises. Accused told him that he had been drinking, that his money was gone, and that he had no place to go to, as he was oat of employment. Witness told accused that if he were locked up he would be charged with vagrancy. Accused replied that he did not care, as he would be better vti in gaol than out of it. Bis Worship said he would not take the accused's view of the matter and gratify his desire to better his condition by being sent to gaol, and would dismiss the ca3e. At the same time he cautioned the accused that if he came up again he would be dealt with severely. LD'ilX William Henty, charged with being of unsound mind, was remanded for medical examination.
