He ran second to Backbiter for the Lawrence Town Plate, in 1871 ; and won the ' Publicans' Purse at Waiwera—distance, 2 miles. His latest performance was winning the Cromwell Spring Handicap (distance, 1-i mile), easily, and he has also been victorious in many other events. BEDOUIN is brother to the well-known colt Saladin, the winner of many big events at all distances, from 1 mile to 3, in good company. BEDOUIN is by the well-known horse The Colonel, a dark chestnut, 16 hands high, free from white; remarkably handsome, long and powerful. The Colonel, by Cossack, out of Edith, by Emigrant. Cossack, by Sir Hercules, out of Flora M'lvor, by Cap-a,-pie ; grand-dam Cornelia, by Grasshopper, out of Hebe, by Hector, both imported. Sir Hercules was sire of Coronation, Faugh-a-ballagh, Irish Birdcatcher, Warlock, Daniel O'Rourke, Knight of St. Oeorge, and Songstress—all Derby an.l St. Leger winners in linglaud. His grandson was sire of Stockwell, and gi andsiro of Blair Atliol, Colleen, St. Atban3, The Marquis, and Whalebone— embracing the representative of the purest and most successful racing strain of the present day. Goldfinder was bred by William Webb, Esq., of Hiccaiton, near Ohristchurch; is by the imported horse Quicksilver, out of Lady Margaret, by Wellington (imported); granddam Fanny, by Sir Hercules—Sir Hercules being the progenitor of the New Zealand Turt, aud long proclaimed and proved to be the best blood sire in thi Australian Colonies. Quicksilver was imported from England by J. W. Ladbrook, Esq., to Canterbury in 1564. He wa3 bred by John Coker, Esq., Lynn, Norfolk, by PrickwilJow. His dam, a Phenomenon mare, the property o£ John Bond, Esq., Old Prickwillow, was the champion of all roadsters. GOLDFINDER has taken several first prizes as the best Hackney. Stallion at some of the principal shows as a weight-carrier and roadster; his equal is not in the Province. He is one of the best stock getters that ever travelled. His sire was the celebrated imported horse Blackleg (71 Scottish Clydesdale Stud Book), who won the Highland and Agricultural Society's Gold Medal in 1859, and the Champion Px-ize at the Grand National Society's Show in Victoria. Blackleg won altogether 54 First and 2 Second Prizes. . Princes? Maude, the best mare that ever left Scotlaud, was half-sister to Blackleg. Heather Jock's dam was Lily Cromwell, the winner of 13. First Prizes at Melbourne. Kynetou, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Castlemaine, Gisborne, and Carisbrook. She was got by Old Cromwell (imp.) His grand-dam was R.
