ANNUAL ELECTIONS OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The annual meeting of householders for the election of a School Committee for tho ensuing year was held in the schoolhouse, Awamoko, on the appointed evening (Monday, 26th inst.). Owing to the unfavorable state of the weather) the attendance was not so good as- it otherwise might have been. . The Secretary of the retiring Committee read the balance-sheet, from which it appears that thoy began the year with a debt of L 3 10s Bd. and retire leaving a balance in hand of L2 19s lOd. Mr. George Bisset being chosen chairman, the meeting proceeded to the election of a new committee. Tho following are the names of the gentlemen elected :—Messrs. John Johnston, John Henderson, James M'Auley,Neil M'Phee, Thos. Jardine, Thos. King, Arch. Hutcheson. A vote of thanks to the chairman brought the meeting to a close. PUKEURT. (from our own correspondent. ) The meeting of householders was small on aoQount af the wet night. The retiring Committee read a very favorable and satisfactory report, stating that they had not received a complaint of any sort during their term of office. The summary of attendance showed 106 children on the roll, with an average attendance—notwithstanding the prevalence of whoop-ing-cough—of 84 during the year. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of 6s 9d. The Committee mentioned the necessity for more school accommodation, and recommended to their successors to at once apply to the Board for an addition to the school. A hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman and Secretary closed the business of the retiring Committee. Mr. Easton was then voted to the chair, and a new Committee balloted for, with the following result j—Messrs. W. Easton, G. A. Gaodall, S. Holmes, T. Y. Duncan, James Watt, Henry Schluter, and W, Gray. PAPAKAIO. (from a correspondent.) The statutory meeting of householders for the election of a new School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening, but was only thinly attended. The annual report having been adopted, the following gentlemen were elected a School Committee for the cur« rent year : —Rev. J. Steven, Messrs. D, Borrie, J. Dunn, W. Doig, J. Gibson, B» Wilson, and J. Wilson. HERBERT. A correspondent informs us that, owirg to the inclement weather and the consequent meagreness of the attendance, the annual meeting for the election of a School Committee lapsed. HAMPDEN. (from a correspondent.) •The meeting for the election of a new School Committee, on Monday evening, was fairly attended,, and the foliowii g gentlemen were duly elected Mess; 8. H. T. Murcott, A. M'Kerrow, S. Harris, W." Pollock, A. Gillies, D. C. Martin, and R. Cameron. MOERAKI. (from A correspondent.) The attendance at the meeting on Monday evening, for the election of a School Committee, was only moderate, owing to the miserable weather. After the preliminary business had been gone through, the following gentlemen were elected a Committee Messrs. Robert Johnston, Mathew Henderson, James Culling, John Simmons, David Munro, William Nicholson, and Donald Ross. KAKANUI. Qur own correspondent writes :—The wretched weather of.Monday evening prevented people attending the annual meeting on Monday evening for the eleotion of a, gohool Committee, and the meeting therefore lapsed,
