OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.

The usual meeting of this Board was held on Friday last. Present—Messrs. Falconer (Chairman), Henderson (Treasurer), Anderson, M'Donald, A. Marshall, Watson, Ketchin, Darro.ch and Ross. On- the • motion 'of Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. M'Donald, the minutes of last meeting were adopted as read. The outward correspondence was read and appro ved, and the in ward .correspondence was read and considered as follows :—•

A memorial from ratepayers in Herbert requesting that Monk-street, opposite sections 31 and 32, block XXIX., Herbert, be formed. Mr. Anderson moved that the matter 'be postponed till after harvest; seconded by Mr, Marshall and carried..

A letter frpni the Kakanui Road Board, asking if this Board will assist in erecting a footbridge and improving the ford at Davis' Crossings at Island Stream. Mr. Henderson moved, and Mr. Ketchin seconded, ; that this Board should cooperate with the- Kakanui Board in the work, '" '

A letter from the Waimate County Clerk, requesting information about the Board's expenditure since 1875, and a list of the officers, with a .memo, of their salaries. Mr. Henderson moved that receipt of the letter be acknowledged, but . that "until the Board is aware of the use to which the information is to be applied, it cannot comply with the request; seconded by Mr. M'Donald, and carried. A letter from the Ranger, gavo a month's notice of his resignation, according to agreement. It. was decided not to appoint another till after harvest. Mr. M'Donald reported that some landslips had rendered the. Breakneck road impassable, Mr, Ross- moved that the menfters for the sub-division be empowered to have it repaired ; seconded by Mr. Ketchin. Mr. Ross-drew attention to the state of the road between section 35, block Y., and section 12, block VIII. Messrs. Henderson and Ketohin were appointed *to get a pile put in the bridge at Mr, Todd's, Marshall and M'Donald were requested to get the bridge at Mains' gate repaired temporarily.

The Engineer was requestod to prepare plans and specifications for improving the road between sections 1, 21, and 3, Block IY. ' Accounts amounting to L5419s 2d were passed for payment, after which the Board adjourned. -'
