PALMERSTON v. EXCELSIOR CLUB. The return match between'elevens of | the Exe-Lsior and Palmerston Clubs was | played on the Ounlaru Club's ground. ! The weather was delightful for cricketing purposes. The Excelsior were the first to wield the willow,; Snow and Hartley being the first' to face the bowlinir of Everest and Nelmes. The innings opened rather tamely, runs coming very slowjy, and. the four first wickets fell for a small total. Thompson, who made his first appearance in a first eleven, played a .lively, innings of 10; but none of the others did much t6 help the score.
