WAIAREKA ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held to-day, when, there were present— Messrs, J. Reid (Chairman), Gilchrist, Jackson, Isdale, Cruickshank, Little, Barr, Elder, Todd, and Oliver (Engineer). The minutes of the: last meeting were read and confirmed, and., the outward correspondence was read and approved. Before the usual business commenced, Mr. Gilchrist resigned his position as Chairman, and Mr. John Reid' was unanimously elected to fill the vacancy. A circular was read from the Treasury intimating that a sum of L 844 9s lid had been paid to the Board's credit in the Colonial Bank as first half of subsidy on last year's rate. Mx. John Craig wrote complaining of crossing over Kakanui River at 3?ivePoints.—The matter was referred to. the, Engineer, with power to act. The New Zealand and Australian Land Company wrote forwarding account for damage to fences by contractor.—.The Board decided not to acknowledge the account. The Engineers forwarded a map of the district. Mr. J. Ileid proposed to exchange roadline in block XL, Kauroo, and block I, Maerev/henua.—The matter was referred to the members of the subdivision and the Engineer for report. The Engineers forwarded a report as to closed road-lines on the Friston and Teaneraki estates.—After a considerable amount it was resolved that Mr, Lees asked to wait on the Board at its nexjrpaeeting,. ■; -Mr. B.^mery-the "Board's Solicitor, waited on the Board, by request, with

reference to conveyances for roads exchange, and promised to causo certain inquiries to be made, and report at next meeting. The Engineer, reported that the roadline complained of by the Stone Company was not shown on record maps. The Board therefore decided that it could not see its way further to interfere in the matter. Leave was given to Mr. Hay to erect gates on road-line abutting on to the 'south side of sections 68 to 73, block 11 } Oamaru. • ' It was decided to hold the next meeting in the first week in January. Accounts amounting to L9O 10s were passed for payment, and a vote of thanks, to the Chairman terminated the meeting.
