The " Hermit" writes : —The following work was gone through this morning on the course : —Natator, with a hood on, went' twice round the plough steadily. The first time he pottered a bit, but warmed up to his work better as he went on. Mata and Fable, tho former with a hood on and the marc clothed, did a good gallop on the plough. Atlantic, Oberon, and the Wairnea colt started from the Welcome Stakes post, and galloped'as far as Redwood's, pulling up on the far side of the course. Fable again worked on the plough, and Atlantic and Oberoti also had some ipore exercise. Titania; Templeton, and Hornby, who with Lonehand comprised Ray's lot, canterod, Soukar and Tim Whiffler then went round, the latter | going very nicely. K" urn a, pulling as hard as ever, did fast work on the plough gallop. -Laertes and Luna did a round or more.in company, and Te Whetu brought the Australian home. Midge, a bay filly, by Blue Boy—Malice, did sow© slow galloping, but she would have to improve greatly to be dangerous, aa she ia awfully

short, and galloped as if her legs wero tied. York had three times round bv himself at a medium pace, and Titania did (a fast gallop alone. Hornby and Temploton, with their rugs turned forward, and Lonehand, stripped, went two miles together, Ray being on the grey, and Hunting on the Derby colt, along with the inevitable pig-whip. Agent, without clothing, and going better, went twiceround the plough. Of Webb's team The Governor and the Tantrums filly cantered. Windsor, the Lady Florence colt and Edward James galloped a m ile together, the last part of tho spin beinf pretty fast. The Tantrums filly had couple of turns on the plough by herself. Betraj-er followed Daisy once round the course, but the pace was slow. Adamant was not out. Mr. Walters' lot were to be sweated after breakfast. I forgot to mention that Silverstream-and Romeo did average work in company later. Walters brought his horses on the course after everyone had left, and had a trial with Grand Duchess and Billingsgate. . The mare was ridden by French, and had the worst of tho weights, but she had the best of the spin for a mile, when she tired to nothing. Neither of them is good enough to win the Derby, and the colt will be found to be a non-stayer. Libeller had a good gallop by himself.
