His grandson was sire •of Stockwell, and grandsire of Blair Athol, Colleen, St. Albans, The Marquis, and Whalebone—embracing the representative of the purest and most successful racing strain of the present day. NAPOLEON'S sire is that grand old horse Emperor, the property of Mrs. Nimmo, Taieri, that has got more prize-takers than any other horse in New Zealand. Blackleg won altogether 54 First and 2 Second Prizes. Princess Maude, the best mare that ever left Scotlaud, was half-sister to Blackleg. Heather Jock's dam was Lily Cromwell, the winner of 13 First Prizes at Melbourne, Kynetou, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Castlemaine, Gisborne, and Carisbrook. She was got by Old Cromwell (imp.) His grand-dam was R. M'Dougall's mare Old Lily, by Grey Champion (imp.) Jock's great-grand-dam was a celebrated Clydesdale mare imported from Scotland, Terms—£s, payable on or before Ist Jan., 1880.
