[from our own correspondent.] London, August 27. The following is the result of the Ebor Handicap :—lsonomy, 1; Templar, 2 ; Seringa, 3. Rain is ruining the harvest. Bismarck and Gortschakoff are indulging in a quarrel, but the Czar and Emperor William remain friendly. An alliance between Germany and Austria is highly probable. Consols, 975. New South Wales debentures are a-half higher. South Australian four per cent, debentures are at 96£. The open market rate is three-quarters per cent, under the Bank rate. The withdrawals of gold from the Bank of England are large. There has been a heavy drop in railway shares. The tin market is firm with hardening prices. The present quotations are from LG9 to L 69 ss. The corn market is strong, with an upward tendency. The American wheat supplies are unusually large. At the wool sales to-day prices were well sustained ; 95G8 bales were sold. Emigration schemes are numerous. Eighty Yorkshire farmers have already started for Texas. Sydney, August 29. Falmouth is still a firm favorite for the Derby, at four to one. The rowing match between Trickett and Laycock takes place to-day. Trickett is being backed at two to one on him. Forty thousand people are proceeding to the scene of the contest, which has excited a vast amount of interest.
