Flour, :35s per 2801bs. The Western Bank at Barrow has failed. . • July 17. Messrs. .Jackson and Gill, of the Cleveland iron works, luive failed. July IS. On the Ist July the British were within twelve miles of L londi. and were advancinis. Cetewayo has sent in a desire to entertain proposals for peace. Sir Garnet Wolseley has demanded the return of the Isaiidula trophies and cattle as an inilemnitv, on peace being granted. Tin: crops in Canada and America are ijvi'iw the average. The Sriouth Wales strike has ended. A military funeral was accorded the remains of the Prince Imperial at Chislehuret. There were 200,000 people present. The Queen and the Empress Eugenie were the chiof mourners. The Prince of Wales, and the Dukes of Edinburgh, C'onnaught, and Cambridge were the pall bearers.
July 21. The British troops reached Ulondi unopposed. Cetewayo burned the kraal. 'Hie Ilniue deliveries of wheat are small. Foreign arrivals reach a fair average. Present quotations for wheat are from 51s to 51s (id ; flour, 35s to 3l>s. The Home Rulers censured the .Speaker for appointing a Clerk. Lord Arlington contests the seat for Lancashire at the next general election. At a banquet, the Marquis of Salisbury defended the Government, and contrasted the union of the Conservatives with the disunion of the Liberals.
A pilgrimage of Catholics to Rome has been arranged to take place during Epiphany. Prince Bismarck has installed a Tory Ministry, and has carried the protection morjsure, and secured the revenue without Parliamentary interference. Peace between Germany and the Vatican is anticipated. The Liberals arc powerless attd are abandoning their policies.
