WHO WILL BE THE NEXT MAYOR ? TO THE EDITOR OF THE OAJIAE.tr MAIL. Sir, —At the last Mayoral election, Mr. Steward declared that that was the last year in which he would solicit the suffrages of the ratepayers, because he anticipated ere its close to finish the Oamaru Waterworks. How much has been accomplished, and how near their termination those works are, the public already know. The financial crisis we are experiencing is, no doubt, one of the chief reasons of the non-fulfilment of the Mayor's sanguine anticipations, but it realises the old Scottish proverb, " The best laid schemes of mice and men gang aft a-gley." But when the LIO,OOO loan comes out from Home, it will bring these iinport.-tnf works to a happy conclusion. The question of who will be the next Mayor lies in the hands of the ratepaysrs, who, like wise men, keep their own counsels.-—Yours, &c. , Titan.
Holloway's Ointmext and Pills—During every break of wintry weather exertions should be made b}' the afflicted to recover health before unremitting cold and trying storms set in. Throat ailments, coughs, wheeziugs, asthmatical affections, shortness of breath, morning nausea and accumulations of phlegm can readily be removed by rubbing this fine derivative Ointment twice a day upon the chest and neck. Holloway's treatment is strongly recommended witli the view of giving immediate ease, preventing prospective danger and effecting permanent relief. These all-important ends his Ointment and Pills can accomplish, and will surely prevent insidious diseases from fastening on the constitution to display themselves afterwards in those disastrous forms that will probably embitter life till death is almost prayed for.
