SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION.
Wellington, June 20. The International Commission write to the New Zealand Commission for the Sydnev Exhibition, under date 4th inst : " There will be shown in operation at the exhibition of machinery a method on a working scale for extracting precious metals, not only from untreated tailings, but those which have been treated by the ordinary processes, and after which a noticeable per centage of gold and silver has been left. This method is believed to save 50 or CO per cent, of gold usually left in the stone which has gone through the grinding operation with machines such as Wheeler's, or Berdan's ofParis, or of Arrastra's. The process is a cheap one, and ought to greatly increase the production of gold in New Zealand. It is requested that samples may be forwarded for treatment at the Exhibition, and operations will be conducted under the supervision of the_ officers of the commission."
