RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

TBIS DAY. (Before S. E. SiiimiSKi and T. A. Clowes, Esqs., J.P's) John Olson was charged with having 110 lawful means of support. .John Ireland, grocer, deposed that he had seen the accused last Saturday at his shop in Thames-street. He also saw him at his private residence on Sunday, about 12 o'clock. He was begging. After leaving witness's house accused went into Mr. Parker's yard. He had no bundle when lie went in, but when he came out out he had a blanket and some other thing's under his arm." Mary O'Rorke. a servant in the employment of Mr: Parker, 11. M., deposed that she left the house at about a quarter to 11 on Sunday morning, and returned about 1. On returning she found the back door open. Her bedroom door was also open, and she noticed that the bed-clothes had been disturbed. She went to Mr, Parker and they returned together and found that two of the blankets were missing. She also missed a pair of blankets. She also missed a pair of scissors. T. W. Parker, R.M., deposed that on Sunday, between 12 and 1, he left the house, and on his return in about ten minutes he found the back door half open. It was on the latoh, but not locked, when he went out. When his servant returned she went to him; lie asked what was the matter, and she asked him to come and look into her room. The bed-clothes appeared to have been pulled about, and a glass which stood on a chest of drawers was thrown down. On Monday he reported the matter to Sergeant Beatty. Witness thought from the hasty manner in which things had been pulled about that the party had been disturbed by his returning. Constable Walker deposed that accused had told him that he had just come out of gaol a fortnight ago, where he had been for begging and being drunk. Constable Pascoe arrested the accused on Tuesday night in a boarding-house at Palmerston. The Bench considered the charge fully proved, and sentenced the accused to three months' imprisonment with hard labor.
