June 13, The final meeting of the Committee in connection with the Kaitangata Fund Fete was held last night to consider a circular from the Central .Committee, in reference to the disposal of the surplus. The meeting passed a resolution to the effect that while they generally agreed with the circular forwarded, they were of opinion that the surplus fund should be available not only for mining casualties, but also for the relief of widows and children left destitute through accidents of any kind. • ,r. The City Council have instructed their aurveyor to proceed at once with testing
operations for the water supply from the Waimakariri, for Christchurch. Cylinders have been made by a local foundry, and will be placed in position immediately if the test proves satisfactory, and the scheme will be carried out in its entirety.
