THE LABOR MARKET. Mr. K. Mackintosh reports for the week ending May 3tst. as follows Business in the tabor market has improved very sligh tty this week, but stilt there is great room for improvement,, great numbers of men being stilt idle. Wb have had a good deal of rain, which should improve the demand for farming hands. Female servants and hotel hands are in steady demand. It is to be hoped that the harbor and waterworks wilt soon start again, as things would very much improve if they did. Rates of wages —Ploughmen, 'i'is 6d to 255: married couples, LBO to L8">: station cooks._2os to3ds ; good general servants. t3s to ti>*; ordinary do, t-3 to t3s : waitresses and housem.'iids. i to 17s . female cooks. Considerable parcels of jjrain are daHy boing railed to the Blurt' for shipment, mainly on growers' account. The sales effected during the week have established the rates for good, heavy feed oats) at 2s at lovercarrailway station, and 2a 2d for prime, bright miliiug sorts ; wheat, from 3d fid tf> 3s Oil i fowls' feed. 2s 6*t to 2s 9d.
