RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
THIS DAY. (Before J. W. Humphrey and S. E. ShrimsW Esqs., J.P.'s.) * William Donan was charged with having been drunk and disorderly in Thames street on the 27th February ; fined ss. James Kingsley and Thomas Miller were also convicted of having been drunk and disorderly in Thames street on the 26th, and were fined 5s each. The fine 3 were paid. Robert M'Taggert was charged by William Beatty with having driven an express across a level railway crossing in Thames street, on the sth of February whilst an engine was approaching. The offence was proved, and the Bench fined the defendant L 5, the same to be recovered summariiy. The Inspector of Nuisances charged "Robert Fergusson with having driven seven horses and a sledge on 21st Fcbru. ary across a footway and water channel in Thames-street, the same being contrary to the Corporation bye-laws. The Court decided the damage done amounted to L 4, which they ordered defendant to pay. Thomas M'Grail was fined 20s. for a breach of the bye-laws, and Oliver Smith 10s. for unlawfully tethering a cow in Greta-street on the 22nd inst.
