Wellington:, February 17. The programme- of ihe Rifle Association's first meeting- at Nelson, on the 3rd March, and following days, has been issueci. There are, in all, 19 matches, of which eight are open to Volunteers only, nine are open to any members, and two are open to civilians, who are members only.

The following is a summary of the programe : Match No. 1, Any Member.— 200, 500, and 000 yard's, i Snider and muzzle-load-ing Enfield rifles,, Government pattern ; 18 prizes ; total value, L 65. No. 2, Volunteers only.—2oo yards ; Snider rifle : 9 prizes ; total value, L4O. No. 3, Volunteers Only.—2oo yards ; Snider carbines ; 9 prizes ; total value, L4O.

No. 4, Any Member.—Boo and 1000 yards ; any rifle ; 9 prizes ; value, L 45. No. 5, Volunteers Only.— 400, 500, and 000 yards ; Snider rifles ; 10 prizes ; value, LSO.

ISO. G, Volunteers Only.— 300, 400, and 500 yards ; Snider carbines ; '.) prizes; value, L4O. No. 7, Civilians Only.—2oo and 800 yards ; any rifle ; 9 prizes ; value, L4O. longing to er»oh Island, in matches 2, 5, and 9,. who shall produce certificate of efficiency for the Volunteer year ending 31st March, 1878 ; rifle same as used in those matches. In event of a. tie in the aggregate scores, both sides w*ll fire shot for shot at 600 yards. The Rifle Challenge Cup to be held by- the highest scorer in the winning team, for 12 months ; a money prize of Lfs, to. be given with the Cup ; and the highest scorer on the losing side will receive a prize of L 5. No. 14, Carbine Match, North v. South.—2oo, 400, and 500 yards ; conditions as above ; winners in matches 3, G, and 10 competing. A tie to be shot off at 500 yards; prizes as in match 13. If either of the Challenge Cups, is won two years in succession, or three years at intervals, by same person, it will become the absolute property of such winner. The former winners under the Government Colonial Prize Firing regulations are allowed to count.

1 No. 15, Ladies' Prize, Any Member.— 200, 250, and 300 yards ; any rifle or carbine ; prize, ring, preaeated by Mrs. Walls Dunn, and any oilier prizes which may be presented.

The conditions are not affixed to matches 3,6 and 17, Licensed Victuallers' and 18, Ist prize presented by. Stoke Rifles.

No. 19, Consolation, Any Member. — 200, 300, and 400 yards; 12 prizes ; value, L 25. The highest aggregate scorer in matches Nas. 2, 5, and 9, who shall produce a. certificate of efficiency for Volunteer's Rifle Champion for 1879, and are entitled to hold the Belt for 12 months. The highest aggregate scorer in matches 3, 6, and 10, who shall produce a certificate of efficiency for the Volunteer year ending 31st March, 1878, will be Volunteer Carbine Champion for 1879, and entitled to hold, the Belt for 12 months.
