HAMPDEN ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Wednesday last, when there were present—Messrs. Bremner (in the chair), M'Kerrow, Findlay, Seddon, Riddell, Andrew, Munro. The minutes of last monthly and special meetings were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the New Zealand and Australian Land Company, asking that the exchange of road-lines on the Moeraki estate might be completed. Mr. M'Kerrow moved, and Mr. Andrew seconded —"That the Clerk write to the ISTew Zealand and Australian Land Company that the Board is prepared to complete the agreement; also that the Clerk forward a list of the roads closed or exchanged in the Moeraki estate to the Commissioner of Waste Lands in Dunedin, as stated in minutes of the late Chalgrove Local Road Board of 2nd February, 1869 ; also to inform him that the Board are willing to have the said roads conveyed to the New Zealand and Australian Land Company without further delay." Mr. Culling, at this stage of the proceedings, took the chair, and Mr. Bremner moved —"That the New Zealand and Australian Land Company be asked to give a road-lino from district road in section 110, block 11., Otepopo, to follow the present track through secI tions 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, and 104, to district road at crossing of Waianakarua ' river, between sections 104 and 105, block 11., in lieu of the road closed from section 110 to section 131, same block." This was seconded by Mr. Munro, and carried. A Committee consisting of Messrs. Bremner, M'Kerrow, Findlay, Riddell, and Andrew, was 'appointed to examine the different roads on the Bluff Plain, and report at next meeting. Mr. M'Kerrow handed over to the Board the sum of L 9 12s 6d from the Moeraki Wardens, to be expended on roads and bridges in the district, A number of accounts were passed for payment. Mr. Watt, schoolmaster, was appointed Auditor to the Board. It was decided to appoint a Ranger to impound all cattle found trespassing on fenced district roads within the district, and tenders for the performance of the duties were ordered to be called for before next meeting. It was agreed to employ a surface man on the Kartigi road for a few days, and the meeting terminated.
