CRICKET.
p 0.0. C. v. EXCELSIOR C.C. This niatph between the above Clubs was continued on Saturday, and resulted in an easy victoiy for the Excelsior C. C. by one innings and 69 runs. A. O. Hardy and Kett, the two not outs from the previous Saturday, proceeded to the wickets, to the bowling of Walls and Lowe. After scoring 3 Hardy fell a victim to the latter. Hartley followed, but soon lost his partner, Kett being caught by Sumpter after _ making 17 by vigorous cricket. E. Hewat succeeded, but was speedily caught by Lowe off Walls, and the first innings of the Excelsior Club closed for the respectable total of 135 runs. The Oamaru team now handled the bat, but the innings calls for no special remarks, as wicket after wicket fell to Howarth and CQoke, who bowled in first class style ; and the eleven were only equal tp the task of putting together 22 runs, Walls contributing 9 «vnd Do Lautour 6, The Oamaru Club being more than CO runs behind their opponents, were obliged to follow their innings, Messrs. Sumpter and De Lautour going to the wickets first, but the former was soon bowled by Cooke in his first over, and was "succeeded by Walls; butDe Lautour's time had come, he jbeing caught by Terawhitij after contributing 3 in his usual ; style. father, and a good stand was m&4a, y 'empest, after making 8 by cal'eful pW was bowled by Howarth. Lowe folio but soon after Walls was caught wj Hartley off Howarth after Booring 21; this stage of the game, there were wickets down for 44 runs, and with thj departure of Walls from the wicketj ( regular panic set in, th® remaining wickets being disposed of without n* addition being made to the score, and tjj Oamaru Cricket Club sustained a innings defeat by more runs than tW had actually made. The fielding' of Excelsior team was very good, especial], that of T. Hewat and Hartley. Athertoj was very useful at long-stop. Howattb and Cooke were in fine form with th# ball, as a glance at the bowling will show. There were a number of spectators present, and tin weather was splendid. Appended scores :
