The statement that the Ameer lias entered Russian territory unattended is authentic. Bombay, January 10. General Roberts successfully attacked and completely defeated the Afghans at Khost. The Afghans were in considerable numbers, and suffered considerable loss. The Britiah loss was slight. Salutary effects are expected from this.

The British garrison at Piewar Pass are threatened with a raid'of hill tribes, and urgently demand nelp. General Robert's division has arrived at Mahsum, and is advancing on Cabul.
