TiiK Hon. U. Stovt addressed his constituents at the Queen's Theatre last night. As might have been expected, there was a crowded audience to catch the words as they dropped from the mouth of one of the most able, energetic, and important members of the Gkkt Administration. People expected to hear much about the past and future policy of the Government. They were not disappointed as regards the past, of which we have already heard so much, but the Attorney-General was wonderfully discreet in dealing with the future. Here and thoro he foreshadowed the skeleton of the Government policy, hut it was about as useful to inquiring minds a* an unopen pack of cards would be ton. player who wanted to see his opponent's hand. We approve of the AttorneyGeneral's silence. The Government has not many actual enemies, but those it has are powerful. The Gksv -Ministry has commenced a crusade against the moneyed monopolists of the Colony, who are exercising every art f•» checkmate those who are attempting to drive them from their fastnesses. To be forewarned is to hv forearmed, and if the post-sessional speeches of the Ministry were much more than the iteration of an ofttold tale, or milk-and-watery utterances, the opponents of Colonial progress would be put on the alert. But barren as Mr. Stml-t's address is, it is the best wc have read since the session. Tt is however voluminous, consisting of a page of the Dttnedin papers, and only moderately interesting, and as it would not stand summarising without rendering it useless, we have excluded it altogether from to-
