HARBOUR BOARD.
A mooting of the Board was held to-day, at tho Harbor Chambers. There were present —Mr. Sumpter (Chairman), the Hon. H. J. Miller. Messrs. Menlove, Hi-adland, and Shvimski.
The report was adopted. It was then decided to forward copies of the photograph of the breakwater and harbor to the Hon. Mr. Macandrew, in compliance with his. request, for transmission to the Agent-General in London. Seven tenders were received for supplying cement, as follow : —Messrs. W. and G. Turnbull, Lo **s 4d per ton ; J amies. >n (Ghristchurch), L 4 18s lid ; A. Briscoe and Co., L 4 14s 0d ; Cargills, Gibbs, and Co., L-l 13a fid: Guthrie and Larnach, L 4 10s 3d; Findlay and Co., L 4 7s Id ; Oliver and Ulph (New Zealand Hardware Company), L 4 os. Messrs. Oliver and Ulph's tender was accepted. The Board's solicitors (Messrs. Hislop and Creagh) wrote, giving the opinion that the election of members of the new Board by the ratepayers of Oamaru should l)e conducted by the Municipal Council, and not by the Board. It was resolved, on the motion of the Hon. Mr. Miller, " That the Union Bankbe requested to negotiate in the London market the L 30,000 loan in terms of their letter of the 27th November." Accounts and wages to the amount of L(J5i3 Is lid were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
