WAIAREKA ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Waiareka Road Board took place at the offices in Tyne-strect, to-day, at 11 a.m. There were present—J. Reid (chair), Messrs. Gilchrist, Todd, Jackson, Evans, T. Reid, T. Rainforth, and Oliver (Engineer). The minutes of the last ordinary and anil special meetings were read and the inward and outward correspondence was read and approved. A letter was read from the Secretary for Works re Tapani main district road. The Clerk reported that he. had replied to it.

A report was read from the Committee who were appointed at a special meeting to examine the proposed exchange of roadlines within the Corriedale estate. The Committee recommended that the Board approve of portions and disapprove of others. The report was adopted and a copy ordered to be sent to Mr. Oliver, M.H.R. Tenders -n-ere ordered to be called for works at Brown Hill, and also on boundary road, as per Engineer's report, to be opened at a special meeting to be held on Saturday, 7th pros. The Inspector's report was read, in which he reported that valuable assistance had been given to him in improving the roadline at Harbridge's by Mr. Peter Miller. Applications were opened for the office of valuer, which resulted in the appointment of Mr. James Liddle.

It was resolved that the Board record an expression of regret at the death of Dr. Webster, who was one of its members. Owing to the Board's financial condition a number of works were ordered to stand over. Accounts amounting to LIC7 16s Sd, having been passed for payment, the Board adjourned.
