CRICKET.
A cricket match between an eleven from the Dmiedin Normal School and an eleven of the Grammar School is to be played on the old Cricket Ground tomorrow. The visiting team feel confident of winning, but the Grammar School vill no doubt give a _;ood account of themselves, though they have not such a formidable team. Mr. Fitzierald, the old Recfc;r. of the Grammar School, along with Mrs, Fitzgerald and several other visitors, will accompany the .Normal School team, which vill arrive here to-night. The Normal School team is to ■onsist of the following : —Kneen, Knox, Davidson, Fitzgerald J, and W., Tidoy, Mollison, Ross, Douglass, Gavn, and Nieol. The Grammar School team vill be chosen from the following : —Bee., Galbraith. Grenfell, Ham, Hartley, Hevatt E., He watt R., flevatt D., Kite, Moore, Nieol, Thompson, Ross, Todd J., and Todd Win. The Oamaru Cricket Club will commence the season to-morrow afternoon with a match ' etveen sides to be chosen by the President and Vice-President from the following playei's : —Messrs. Booth, Young, Evans, Atherton, Lowe, Dn Pre,-Tempest, Rutley, TTassell, Ferens, Finch, Moore, Otterson, Montague, Wood, Solomon, Lintott, Filloul, '.Tardiner, Church, and Cooke, F-iayers arc requested to be on tnc ground at half-past two o'clock. The following are the members of the Excelsior Cricket Club picked to play gainst fifteen of the Combined Trades Cricket Club to-morrow afternoon at 2.50 p.m. : Messrs. Church, Colborne, Cooke, Feuwick, Finch, G-lasson, A. 0. Hard}-, Little, Marshall, 11. Moorp, Snow. Filleul, Robinson, and I>. Moore. Members arc requested to be on the ground at 2 o'clock, in order to elect a deputy-captain.

DIRECT AUSTRALIAN NEWS. (reuter's telegrams, per tress agency.) Sydney, November 14. The latest New Caledonian news to the 7th, states that a number of successful attacks are reported to have been made against the insurgents by the troops and friendly natives. Over 100 rebels are stated to have been killed and wounded. There has been no casualty to the whites.
Adelaide, November 14. Three men were killed at Moonfca Mine while blasting.
