WAITAKI ROAD BOARD.

There were present—Messrs. J. T. Evans (in the chair), Easton, Davidson, Procter, Duncan, Schluter, Johnston, Council, and Oliver (Engineer). The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence read and approved. The following inward correspondence was read :

1, Letter from the Secretary to the Treasury, intimating that the sum" of L 209 ?,s lid had been paid to the credit of the District Fund account.

2. A letter from Under-Secretary Cooper, intimating that according to the request of the Board a proclamation hail been issued by his Excellency the Governor, bringing the " Regulations of Local Elections Act, 1576," into force in the district.

3. A letter from the Waitaki County Council, intimating that it was not the intention of the Council to value tho rateable properties within the Ridings comprised within tho several Road Districts.—lt was resolved, "That applications be called for the office of valuator : to be opened at a special meeting to be held for the purpose this day week."

4. A letter from Mr. Cooper (Under-Sec-retary) with a copy of the New Zealand Gazette containing bye-laws approved of by his Excellency the Governor. 5. A letter from the Waiareka Road Board containing a resolution passed at last meeting with reference to boundary road.—On the motion of Mr. Procter, it was resolved that the offer of the Waiareka Road Board be approved of, and that the thanks of the Board be conveyed to Messrs. Aitchison and Johnston, who waited on the Waiareka Road Board with reference to this matter.

6. A letter from the Rng-'ineers to the Board with plan of proposed gravel reserve in Papakaio.—The Clerk reported that he had forwarded a plan to the Waste Lauds Board, which was approved of.

7. A letter from the Board solicitors re rate.-—lt was resolved that the resolution tion passed at the meeting af the Bth nit. fixing general rate for current year at 6d. in the £ be confirmed.

The Engineer's report was read, when it was resolved that tenders be called for works on Boundary Road, and also -bridge on Coalpit Road. It was resolved that the Municipal Council be written to re bridges over water-race. It was also resolved that tho Board's Engineer report as to the cost of increasing the" trafllo way of .all bridges in Weymouth to at least 15 feet. Accounts to the amount of L 290 7s 9d having been passed, the Board adjourned.
