OAMARU CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the above Society was held last evening at the Criterion Hotel, when there were present:—Messrs. Sinclair (in the chair), Procter, J. Bee, J. Martin, D. Miller, W. M'lntosh, R. L. B. Hook, A. Bailey, J. Liddell, "Rowland, L. Morton, and W. Aitken (Secretary). After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed, the balance-sheet was read, showing that the receipts for the year had amounted to L 564 4s. Id., and the expenditure to L 593 10s. od., leaving a debit balance of L 29 Gs. 4d., covered by the Society's assets. The balance - sheet was adopted. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring office-bearers for the manner in which they had performed their duties during past year,
The election of office-bearers then took place, 'with the following result: —President, Mr. N. Fleming (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messr3. John Sinclair (re-elected), and D. Miller : Hon. Treasurer, Mr. James Martin (re-elected) ; Auditors, Messrs. T. Procter and John Bennett; Secretary, Mr. William Aitken (re-elected}. The retiring directors ■were, with the exception of Messrs Hannah, Wheatley (deceased), J. Cormack, S. Riehmond, and M. Morton (re-elected), the following being appointed in addition—Messrs J. M'Comb, Walter Newton, D. A. M'Leod, W. J. Steward, J. Jack, James Campbell (Ngapai-a), David Booth, and James Martin. It was arranged that the next meeting should be held at the Criterion Hotel on Monday next. Mr. James Bee gave notice that at the next meeting he woidd move that the sports should extend over two days, the Ist and 2nd January. After the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting terminated.
