ARRIVALS. OCTOBER 23. Nil. DEPARTURES. October 23. Nil. VESSELS IN PORT. Steamer —Star of the South. Barques—Ceylon, William Wilson. Barquentines—Frank Guy, Avoca. Brigantines—Endeavor, Seabird, Annie. Schooners—Jane Anderson, Cora, Maggie Paterson, Clyde, Isabella Pratt, Crest of the Wave.
The s.s Star of the South is taking in cargo for the Northern ports, and will take her departure to-morrow. The brigantine Annie came inside the Breakwater this morning. The barque Ceylon has taken in 320 tons of cargo, and will ship the remainder at the outer anchorage, -where she proceoded this morning. It is expected that she will be ready for sea about tho end of this week. The schooners Crest of the Wave and Jane Anderson cleared at the Customs yesterday, and will probably sail this evening—the former for Grey mouth, and the latter for the BlulV. , , „..„■ We are informed that the barque W llham Wilson after discharging, will return to Newcastle for another cargo of coal for this port, and then load up here with produce for England, on account of Messrs. C. W. Turner and Co., of Christchurch.
